Could use cam recommendations

I have an 88 GTA, L-98, stock intake manifold, stock rocker arms, 1,000 cfm throttle body, 24lb/hr accel injectors, 3.73 rear (but looking to go 4.10), T-5 transmission. Biggest thing is the engine has 165,000 miles on it, all original, but it's been babied most of it's life and runs suprisingly strong. I am looking to get better valve springs along with 1.6:1 roller rockers. I'm unsure as to whether a cam is a good idea at this mileage and how radical i can go without the computer giving me problems. I am also looking for for something that might possibly give me the good high end and sweet idle I've been chasing after since I bought the car. Hell, if you know of a good intakes off hand, I'm listening. I'd like to make some good power after 5,000 rpms. Any suggestions? Thanks.

after going over the parts you have to work with i'd recomend 1.5 ratio rockers and either XR258HR comp cam or powermax 2031 crane. with the crane i'd recomend 1.6's and deffinitly new valve springs on either.

Yea theres alot of cams that do well over 5,000 , but your intake and heads are not up to the task of anything over 5000. I'd look for a 1500-5500 cam. I went with a XR269 cam 218/224 .496/.503 112 LSA On my 350 TPI
