lt1 or crane

should i go with the lt1 cam witch i hear has a 118 lobe seperation witch would make for a real smooth idle. or should i go with cran cams compu cam 2031 with a 208/214 duration @.050 lift and a .438/.452 gross lift. it also has a 112 lobe seperation. which one would i get better performance out of and witch one would idle the roughest?

I thought the LT1 had 112*? Those lift numbers are nearly identical to the LT1 cam with the LT1 being every-so-slightly more aggressive. I'd stick with the LT1 and spend the money you'll save on other mods... or food.

The LT1 cam will not give you a rough idle, it is a stock production cam.

I've got a 96 LT1 cam in my L98(205/207@.050".447/.459 LSA 117 deg.)with a set of 1.6 roller tips.Once it is warm it idles @ 600 RPMs and is agressive sounding, but above 600 it is pretty smooth. It's hard to tell what I gained from the cam because when I rebuilt the engine I bumped the compression up, hogged the snot out of the heads, ported the intake system, and installed a 2500 stall converter. All it does is spin the tires, but I'm satisfied so far.
