Help, Codes
Ok, i got two engine trouble codes. One is a 23, so i am replacing the MAT sensor (the TPS sensor is fine). Now, the second one is a real mystery to me.
It is a code 24, VSS. Could this code be going off because my speedo cable just recently broke?? Also, does my 87 IROC have a VSS?
Thanks as always for any input. :lala:

Yeah, your car has a Vehicle Speed Sensor. If the cable/wires is broken it will set a code. If your car has an electronic VSS you can probably repair the wires. If it has a cable driven VSS you'll probably have to replace the whole cable.
EDIT: An 87 IROC will have a cable driven speedo. Nevermind about the electronic speedo.
I think a disconnected VSS in an automatic car will cause the torque converter to not lock-up so your gas mileage may go down until you fix it.

Maybe one of you guys can help me out. I have an 87 Formula 350 and my speedo is not working. I was told that if the VSS was bad my SES light would be on. Is this the case? According to the original owner, the speedo went out some time ago, so would the SES light be on or will it just have a stored code? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
