No Fuel New Everything
hey yall, im stumped and feeling defeated. So its a carbed 350 used to be a tbi 350, it was running great then one day it shot gas everywhere out the carb randomly it seemed. I rebuilt the carb 1406 new pressure regulator, new filter, new fuel pump still no fuel. Read about the oil pressure switch the other day thought that could be it replaced it still no fuel, pump comes on primes but doesnt send fuel. What else could it be? could the oil pump cause this?

Re: No Fuel New Everything
presuming you are only using the electric in-tank pump, polarity could be wrong on new pump and running backwards.

Sounds like you hooked the pump up incorrectly.

Re: No Fuel New Everything
it was a direct replacement i dont see how you could hook it up incorrectly. Since the previous pump was doing the exact same thing i dont think the fuel pump itself is the problem im looking for reasons outside of a defective pump why it might not send fuel like a bad oil pressure switch or fuel pump relay. Maybe vats?

Re: No Fuel New Everything
If fuel pump is heard, there is pump or plumbing problem, nothing electrical outside of the tank.If this situation gets to be trouble, you could mount a regular engine -driven fuel pump.

ill pull it one more time and inspect it but maybe external would be good idea, so i just want to make sure nobody thinks its a oil pump issue

Re: No Fuel New Everything
Bear in mind that the oil pressure switch is a redundant path for the fuel pump relay, in case the relay fails. Unlike a Ford, it is not a pump cutoff.
The system will work just fine without the oil pressure switch IF the relay is intact. If the relay fails, the pump will only run after the engine is cranking and achieves at least 7 PSI oil pressure.
I suspect there is a problem with the pump relay and/or its wiring.
