91 Camaro 305 Starts but won't stay running
Hello, I have a 91 Camaro RS with a 305 in it, this Sunday I got it running for the first time on its own, I only put about a gallon of gas into it and it ran for like 30-45 seconds before it shut off, I assumed it ran out of gas and given I couldn't put anymore in I didn't try to start it again. Today I put more gas into it, I'm talking like 4 ish gallons to see if it'll run longer, well now it won't. It will not start unless starting fluid is used and once the starting fluid runs out it shuts off. There is no codes, so I don't believe it's a sensor or anything like that but I'm not for sure. Spark plugs are all new, I even pulled a plug and there is spark, new fuel pump, and it is getting fuel, I had a buddy crank it and you can see the fuel being delivered. I am not very mechanically inclined so I don't know where to look or check. I am happy to answer any questions that may help find out the issue.

Did it run after the new fuel pump went in? I would check fuel pressure to rule out fuel. Your pump could be weak or dying yet supply just enough fuel to trick you that it's working properly. What replacement pump did you go with?

Some important info, this car last ran 17 years ago, I replaced the pump and that's when it ran. I'm not sure how to check fuel pressure if I'm being honest. I went with TruGrade for the pump, probably not the best but I am on a budget.

Fuel filter could be gummed up as well from sitting for that long. I'd replace that, keep fresh gas in it and go from there. If that doesn't work, you'll need to verify fuel pressure.

Often new gas will soften old sludge and plug a new filter up or the next small orifice down the line. It doesn't have to be plugged sold it could be allowing a little bit of fuel to pass but not enough to keep it running. Definitely check the fuel pressure.

I will definitely have a look next time I work on it. I might be able to replace right away due to budget constraints buts it will get done. If anybody has any other suggestions for me to look at while I am working on it, please let me know!
