Carbureted Fuel System Advice
Hey Fellas, bear with me as I attempt not to ramble here. I could use some help and advice putting together a simple/cost effective and overall well rounded fuel system for my 86 camaro. The car has been running great for years with a zz4 385hp fastburn 350 cid crate engine that I have recently taken out to build a 383 out of. I also had plumbed up a (250hp max) cheater nitrous kit with 100hp jets before pulling the engine but had not completed the wiring, you can see how I had plumbed it in the picture and diagram below. I plan to have at least 500hp out of the new 383. While the engine is out I would like to build/upgrade a proper fuel system to support the new engine and have provisions to add the nitrous kit after getting the car up and running on the new engine. I have called and talked to various tech lines and have my own ideas on how to build this but would like to hear from you all and get some real world input. I started with the idea of converting to an in-tank electric pump, 1/2" supply and return lines with a regulator for the carb and separate regulator for the nitrous. This plan seemed to snow ball into a very expensive and feel like unnecessary system for a sbc with a nitrous plate setup. I now feel like using a mechanical pump to supply fuel to the carb utilizing my current deadhead regulator would be the most ideal setup. I am hoping that if using this setup can also utilize the current 3/8" hardline from the tank to pump. Is 1/2" (-8) really necessary? Also would it be possible to incorporate feeding the fuel solenoid using a mechanical pump setup or would it make more sense to have a separate fuel cell with electric pump solely for the nitrous enrichment. I know there are a lot of ways to do this and as usual I am overthinking this but would like to have a proper setup when complete. I have been looking at the Edelbrock Victor jr fuel pump #1711 and have read some good reviews about it. So bottom line how would you plumb up a 383 with a nitrous plate system in an 86 camaro? Thanks in advance for your input!

Re: Carbureted Fuel System Advice
Deadhead setups are never ideal; they invite vapor lock because the fuel sits longer in the hot engine bay. You would be better served with a return line system, but if your current setup is working and you're still delivering adequate pressure to the carb with the fuel solenoid activated, then I suppose that's good enough.
