Tech / General EngineIs your car making a strange sound or won't start? Thinking of adding power with a new combination? Need other technical information or engine specific advice? Don't see another board for your problem? Post it here!
Hey guys, im not great with engines so i had no idea where my oil pressure sensor is and i need to hookup an aftermarket one because my all my gauges are messed up. Engine was swapped but i think its still a gen one, the number on it is 10243880. Thanks in advance.
Its an 84 camaro, the other guy was right though i found it up by the distributor. Going to try replacing it first i think and see if my gauge reads right before i mess around with aftermarket stuff.
Yes.
Simply the movement/ vibrations of the Engine can shorten the life of the Sending-Unit/ Switch/ Sensor.
Also erroneous data/ information may result from not remote-mounting.
This is something that I actually did long-term testing on, when I was with GM SPO.
The early Third-Gen Oil Psi Sending-Units (can-style) were notorious for failing from Engine vibration.
This becomes even more important with aftermarket/ high-detail Sensors for systems like Holley EFI.
The Holley PCM does about 100 Times the Data Monitoring... compared to a LS1 PCM.
Shielded Wiring for Cam, Crank, Oxygen, Knock, VSS, and many others... is necessary to prevent lost or corrupted Data.
Hey guys pulling my hair out! I have a 1982 Z28, that was originally a crossfire injected engine. I cannot find the oil pressure sending wire. I pulled the bulkhead connector and there is not a wire in the E5 slot where the oil pressure wire should be? Did it run through the old ECM harness by chance? Can I just add a connection on the E5 slot on the bulkhead?
Thanks
