My temp gauge quit
#2
I'd go with an aftermarket gauge... much easier to do and I find them to be more accurate. With a 160 t-stat in my car the factory gauge never rose above 120*. As soon as I put in an aftermarket gauge, it shows the car running at 160* fully warmed up. Plus they're easier to read and you can get an exact number instead of knowing its somewhere inbetween 120 and 180.

The senders don't last forever on the factory gauges. My water temp and oil pressure gauges haven't been very accurate for quite some time.I replaced all the senders when I swapped in the new crate motor,so they work for now, but I added mechanical gauges a few years back and haven't had to worry about them since.
Do yourself a favor and buy a mechanical water temp and oil pressure gauge from a good company like Autometer.Even if the whole car's electrical system gets screwed up , you'll have the peace of mind knowing your real temp and pressure.
