Tech / General EngineIs your car making a strange sound or won't start? Thinking of adding power with a new combination? Need other technical information or engine specific advice? Don't see another board for your problem? Post it here!
It's your car, RS. Your opinion is the one that matters most to you. Do you like them? Drive on them a few days & see what you think then. I personally like bright wheels on cars, as they look cleaner. That's my opinion.
Picked up the 383 on Thursday and then went camping with my friends all weekend. Haven't done much to it except put it on my engine stand. Gotta save up some more money before I can buy the intake and other odds and ends.
Well last weekend i rebuilt the entire front suspension on my 88. Had to replace brake lines so i bled some new fluid in slightly last week. Pedal felt so much different that i got the rear end up and bled all 4 corners today. Pedal feels very firm when pressed and brakes respond much better now.
If you havent bled your brakes or flushed out your old brake fluid yet, DO IT NOW!
Did some more under hood polishing to pass the time until I can get it home to start the real work that needs to be done. Seems like every time I see it, I notice something else. I guess it's to be expected on a car that's 28 years old.

looked at mine in the drive way as I pulled off on my motorcycle. we are in a "cold front". its been 77 degrees with a light breeze. can drive a car in such beautiful weather.
Replaced fender yesterday, drove all over town today getting ready for this hurricane!
Put some Premium in her bcuz that's all the station had left so she should be happy
I have to agree with you. They both look great. So don't be sorry. At the end of the day, we're car enthusiasts. I wonder what other members drive besides their 3rd Gens....
I drive a '99 cavalier base model... crank windows and AM/FM radio... Dare I say it.... best car I've ever owned. It's always been an absolute soldier for the 13yrs I've had it. It was my major influence for buying my 89 IROC.

that's gonna be awesome. a 383 in one of these light cars. will be a monster.
Need a little help, guys. I want to replace the front fascia piece that says Camaro & you have to drill holes in to run a front plate. It's between the fog lights. Mine has holes in it. What's that piece callled?

One of these?
I always just call it a grille, search IROC-Z Grille and that's what comes up haha
I spent yesterday detailing my whole interior, including shining the dashpad with a thick layer of ArmorAll. for sunbaked and cracked it doesn't look too bad Gotta have the Cheby all nice and clean before this storm whacks into us haha
Little by little, I'm acquiring pieces I need to get this car back to showroom condition. Next on the list is the rear hatch cargo cover. My searches result in units that don't look right. I have the round, circular mounting brackets screwed to the plastic behind the rear seat. One on each side of the car. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1982-1992-Ca...-/142474417890 Is this the right part? I don't see how or where to attach it to my mounting brackets. I need black. This is what I have for mounting the shade. http://www.ebay.com/itm/82-92-Camaro...Model%3ACamaro

Reason: Add on
got the car washed today. ive now owned the car a year and this is the first time I washed it. I'm telling you my poor burnt up paint never looks better than when its wet and in shadows. ive been driving the crap out of it. still running well.
No prob wish I could help with the cargo cover but my car doesn't have that option lol
I took Camaro for her last run before this storm sets in, came home and got soaking wet tieing a tarp down on her so she wouldn't get too soaking wet
I too, live in central Florida. Right in direct path of Irma. Wind gusts up to 85 mph with sustained winds around 50. Made a mess behind & lost power for 2 1/2 days. How did you fare, LiveIt?

The last bath my Firehawk got was March 2013. Has never even seen rain, so it didn't get a shower either.

Me and the Camaro did alright thanks we only lost power for a day and the yards a mess haha. After the worse was over I took the tarps off her and not even a minute later someone had pulled over to stop and stare had to explain she isn't an IROC but still plenty of fun!

I put a new car cover on my 84 Trans Am because the old one was falling apart.
Unfortunately my car has been sitting for going on 2 decades.
But I am collecting parts and have the engine ready to go.
I just have to find the time..........
But the info I have found here has catapulted me ahead by miles.
Got a nos grille, fog lights & the privacy shade ordered. The fogs on the car are pitted with rust spots. Can't have that. The grille that's on the car has holes drilled in it for a license plate. If anybody wants or needs salvageable parts that are taken off the car, let me know. If you pay for shipping, I will give you the part. The fogs can definitely be sanded down & painted to look new again. I will post links to pics if there is an interest. Otherwise, I will just throw it all away. Don't really want to do that....

Where the heck do you live to see 77* weather in September?

that's really nice of you to donate parts to the cause.
what kind of fuel delivery are you going to use? sticking with tpi? I'm a fan of tpi. it works well and look great in these cars. its all bottom and mid-range but so are most 383s.
One of the most obnoxious pieces that desperately needs to be replaced is mia. The HVAC fan control **** is missing from my car. Somebody replaced it with a large, circular chrome **** with a large black musical note on it's face. Man, that monstrosity needs to go & it has disappeared. Shipper is looking into it. Anybody have an extra one they want to part with?
I saw a couple of complete head units for sale on ebay. I'm not sure about just the *****. I wanna see a pic of that awesome **** you have on your can now though.

The word that got deleted was ****. Looks like one from a 70s land yacht. Big chrome circular piece about the size of a quarter, with a big black musical note on the face. I'm going to the storage unit tomorrow & I will take a picture of it.
with old cars its going to get where that's the only way soon. ordering a lot of stuff you don't need to get the stuff you do. glad you got what you need.
Installed the nos grille & fogs today. Tried to swap out the spoiler 3rd brake lights, but when I changed the one burnt out bulb, none of them worked. Didn't have my multi meter with me, so I couldn't check continuity. Totally forgot to see what size the bolts are thevhold the door pull/ armrests on. Anybody here know? I also ordered new underwood insulation, to freshen that up a bit.
