Block casting numbers ?

I can not find any casting numbers near bell housing. The only think stamped is GM 5.7. I removed alt and found these numbers on front of block V1028UPF and under that TGF708157 . This is in my 87 IROC . I know the block is from a different car. I'm trying to figure out where the block came from and what it has In it. Thanks for any help. I searched numerous sites but found nothing telling me what the UPF stands for

Re: Block casting numbers ?

The casting number on the bellhousing is on the top drivers side. It's not always easy to see.

TGF708157 is the last part of the VIN. If it matches the car then it's the original engine.

V1028UPF means the most

V = Flint engine plant
1028 = October 28
I don't see a UPF but do see a URF
URF = 1983 350 rated at 165 HP with a 4 barrel and it came in a regular cab pickup truck

The G however in the VIN indicates a 1986 vehicle. 1983 would be a D

Re: Block casting numbers ?

Thank you AlkyIROC I guess that's why I could not find any info URF. It makes sense the quad carb serial number comes back to an 83 pick up truck
