Vent for fuel cell mounted outside the car
What is the best way to vent a fuel cell that is outside the car. If you search Jegs or Summit they both mainly sell bulkhead style vents that mount into a cell. I just bought a new cell and I don't want to drill holes in it.
I have two -10 vent ports on the top of the cell. I would like to mount a rollover vent to one and use the other as the return from my regulator.
I searched online and can only find one valve that mounts to a -AN port (mounts to 8-AN). So I figure this is route to go, but I would feel better if I could see some pics of this. There don't seem to be any apart from the horrible ones on the jegs website.
Any insight people have on this issue would really help.
Pic is of my trunk modification, below is the cavity that will house the cell.
Thanks.

Re: Vent for fuel cell mounted outside the car
Common old racing trick was to use some copper tubing. Connect one end to a port on the cell. Wrap the tubing in about 6 spirals then have it go outside at the bottom.
The tube will provide a vent and the spirals will prevent leaking in case of a rollover.

My cell is already outside the car, and I would like to avoid junk getting in the vent. Do you think the 6 turns trick is still acceptable

Re: Vent for fuel cell mounted outside the car
Doesn't look like the cell is outside the car unless there's some sort of firewall, floor etc isolating it from the driver's compartment or is that just a welded up box with a hatch to access the fill opening?
To keep junk from getting into the vent, just put some sort of filter on the end of the line.
The looped tube needs to extend down past the bottom of the cell.

Re: Vent for fuel cell mounted outside the car
Welded up box and hatch to access fuel door on cell. Hatch will be air tight. What you are seeing is essentially my new trunk floor. Cell is under that, outside driver's compartment.
As for filter, I have read of people using anything from a tiny K&N, to a lawnmower filter from Lowe's.
The length of tubing route sounds super easy and cheap. One 10-AN 90 off the to of the cell, then a few feet of tubing and a filter. Seems easier and cheaper than buying a rollover valve that can install right onto the -10 port. I have limited clearance above the cell, so low pro is a priority as well.
