92 Camaro 305 TBI issue
Hello,
I have a 92 Camaro 305 TBI. It started running poorly. When I start it, it will idle inconsistently, and when I drive it at a consistent RPM it will spit and sputter until I jam on the gas pedal. at full throttle the engine runs great. The check engine light came on and gave me code 54. I replaced the O2 sensor, Throttle position sensor, fuel pressure regulator, and all leaking vacuum lines. I still had the same issue. I checked the fuel pressure, it is consistently 8.5-9psi when the engine is running normally and while it is malfunctioning. I checked the fuel spray pattern from the injectors while the engine was at idle, one injector has a consistent spray with a good pattern, and the other injector has a good spray pattern but it spays for a second then stops for a second. Is that normal at idle? it seems to me that each injector controls 4 cylinders, and they should both consistently spray gas.
I unplugged the electrical connectors from the top of the injectors and swapped them around and now the car runs great. every time I switch the connectors back to normal the car runs poorly. Is this a clogged or bad fuel injector? or possibly a bad ECM or MAP sensor?

If it stops for an actual second...like the measured space of time 'second', then that isn't normal. Did you ohm test them? If they passed, I'd question if the injector is being told to stay open or not by back probing or noid light. May just be a bad injector or both.

Ohm your injectors as aliceempire advised. What did you do for your Code 54 - Fuel Pump (low voltage)? Check your fuel pump wiring.

Re: 92 Camaro 305 TBI issue
I metered the resistance on the injectors, the good one was at 1.5 ohms and the malfunctioning one is at 1.1 ohms. I bought a new injector and it meters out at 2.1 ohms. I have not installed the injector yet but I will let you know if it works.
