12v when engine is running
Does anyone know what wire has 12v when the engine is running? Or how I can get a wire that has 12v when engine is running? Thanks

There are probably 100 wires that are hot when the engine is running. What area of the car are you working in? What are you trying to power? What kind of amperage do you need to power whatever your trying to put in?

Amperage= doesn't matter about the amperage because I'm gonna just use it as a signal wire for a relay

Can this work for turning on the fans when the engine is running? It will normally be open and when the engine is running pass 5psi it will close the circuit and send power to the fan relay? Do I have this correct? Can this pressure switch do that?
Thanks in advance

Re: 12v when engine is running
If your dead set on ahortening the life of your fans and hacking up your wiring you could install a acdelco D1818 gm 25036553 oil pressure (4 PSI) (runs fuel pumprelay fails)
Switch, oil pressure (4 PSI) to control a relay.

Why are you wanting to bypass the fan switch?

Re: 12v when engine is running
If I use that switch the fan won't run when the engine is started. The switch opens when the pressure rises above 4psi? Or does it close? If it closes that would be perfect! But if it doesn't the fans will never turn on when the engine is running

I bought the car with the dual fans running off of the coolant temp sensor on the passenger side head and when the engine is warm and I turn the ignition on the fans run all the time. So me and Tuned Performance are trying to figure out how to get the fans to run only when the engine is running

Re: 12v when engine is running
Why not just wire in a toggle switch then. You can turn them on and off at your discretion. When the car is running down the road at speed, you don't need them on anyway. Or a new switch, http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...0-80e2d0037ec1

If you're really set on doing this why not ponder this, install the oil pressure switch, but wire it in line with the existing coolant temp switch in the head, then the fans will only run when the engine is running AND hot.
That way your not putting a bunch of extra stress on the fan motors running all the time when they don't need to be. Add a few more years to their lifespan.
