Fail to start new motor
1990 RS TBI 305
I just swapped out the old motor for a new rebuilt 305 tbi. Had some issues with it not wanting to start, turns out I missed a ground on the back of the passenger head. Connected it and the motor fired right up. Motor ran fine multiple times when started and I pulled it from the driveway into the garage about 10 feet.
I continued on and connected a new connector for the heat sensor for the fan on the passenger side and wired a 3 wire heated o2 sensor and wrapped the starter with a starter wrap. Left the car parked for the week and came back to it this past Friday. Installed a new speed sensor (VSS) and attempted to start it.
Now it won't start, the motor acts like it wants to start with the starter cranking over and it almost sounds like the engine begins to fire. There is plenty of fuel being sprayed by the injector and I've got what appears to be good spark. I've verified the battery is charged and we tried starting it while the charger was still connected.
Anyone got any ideas? Other things I should test?
