what is suggested to have when replacing a fuel pump
Im finally on the verge of replacing the fuel pump in my 87 Camaro and want to make sure I'm well prepared. What parts, if any, do I need other than the fuel pump replacement? Does it matter what brand I get of fuel pump. For example I saw one for 54.99 and then I saw a high-performance one for 152.99. Will the cheaper one work just the same?

Look on the front pass side of block at bottom. You will see 2 bolt holes. One on top of the other. The top hole will have a bolt in it.
Remove this bolt. It will be very short. Keep it safe.
Thread in a longer 3/8" thread bolt into that hole. Snug it up but don't force it tight. This hole is open and goes straight to the fuel pump rod.. A long bolt will hit the pump rod, so by snugging up a longer bolt will hit against the rod and hold it in place for you.

I appreciate the feedback guys. Just ready to hear her start and stay running. I'm just hoping its not as big of a nightmare as most people say it is. Lol. Would I be better off converting to an out of tank pump or would it go smoother just putting another one in the pump??

Keep the in tank pump. No reason to make that change. I would get a GM or delco pump. DO NOT go with a cheap parts store pump..

Are the delco fuel pumps pretty universal or do I need a specific one? Wheres the best place to pick one up or order online?

In the tank pump is not an easy, fast job, but it can be done.
Do not cheap on on that pump. GM/Ac delco for sure.

I just did this job on my 91. The rumors are true...not fast, easy or fun. It helps to have a buddy to lift the tank back in place and help guide that d@mned filler neck. Do a little search. There are a couple of great step by step articles on this job.

If you're plan on doing future mods get the high performance fuel pump for $153.00. You don't have to worry about later when you start modding.

For the Fuel pump I recommend the AC Delco fuel pump used in the Typhoons and grand nationals part number is EP381. I use it after the good report/advice/findings of Dyno Don. It is a complete bolt in. Three years so far.
