Perfect after standing for a while
Hi all
Just had to write a post on here. Got my 86 Trans Am 5.0 TPI taxed today. Got her MOT`d a couple of weeks ago. Had to replace the front part of the handbrake cable after it snapped but thats all done now. In preparation for getting her back on the road, I have bought a new exhaust rear section, new headlights, new multi groove belt. When I last had her on the road (2009?) she ran with a bit of a misfire. In the last few weeks I have taken off the MAF sensor and blasted it with halfords electrical cleaner and blasted some EGR cleaner in the intake. She ran like crap - only going up to about 3000 rpm. Took her for a spin tonight and I must have burnt off that stale old petrol. Thrashed her a bit (is 4000rpm thrashing it? lol) Refilled with high octane stuff and she runs like a dream.
Very pleased!!
The water seems to boil in the expansion tank after shut off but I think thats just a new radiator cap needed. Lucky I got one a few weeks ago.
Just goes to show - if you have a problem (small misfire in my case) dont overlook the easy to fix stuff. Give that MAF sensor a blast with electrical cleaner - but be careful with it. Dont knock it about.
All the best to you guys n gals on here
