Strange Sound/vibrating with Temp fluctuations

Hey Everyone!

I have 85 305 tpi that is producing a mid-ranged turbine type noise that is coming from the front of the engine. It is intermittent and when it comes on, it lasts for about 2-3 minutes.. I felt the radiator while its making the sound and it seems to be vibrating also... Revving the engine does not affect the noise, it is a constant pitch.

I think this is related, but I have had temp fluctuations in stop and go traffic also..

The radiator looks to be in great shape! no leaks at all and still shiny! The water pump was replace recently, as was the radiator cap, thermostat and upper/lower radiator hoses..

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

That's what I was thinking... but would it shake the radiator?

Yes, they are sometimes a lil off balance.

Re: Strange Sound/vibrating with Temp fluctuations

Let the car idle up to temperature and see if the noise starts when the fan kicks in.

Re: Strange Sound/vibrating with Temp fluctuations

Update..

I ordered the radiator fan motor from amazon (Four Seasons 35656 Rad Fan Motor) and installed it and PRESTO! It worked!

The fan fits perfect and runs smooth.

Thanks for the help!
