Starter/Power Issue
I have a 1985 2.8L V6 camaro. I have converted it to a 1987 camaro serpentine belt setup. Which required a new oil pan, timing cover, and alternator. Now when I tried to start the car it was having trouble starting. And when I was troubleshooting that my car would not prime the fuel pump and the starter would no longer work. I fixed that issue by by tightening the solenoid bolts for the main power connector. The car would power up and work but the starter would not work anymore. So I got a new starter and installed and I tried to get it to turn over but it made a clack noise and then I turned it off and tried to turn it over again and now my car is not getting power again no fuel prime or anything when I turn the key it seems like I have to disconnect the battery and connect it again to get the starter to work and the car to power up. The bolts on the solenoid are tight this time.

Re: Starter/Power Issue
So I shimmed the starter with a new shim and without it and it never worked. I then used the original shim for the original starter and it worked. And since I have never had any further power issues I don't know what was causing the power issues but after I shimmed it just worked I made sure the connections were tight before and after.
