How much HP/TQ is needed to get a 4 second 0-60(estimates)

So I am planning out my dream IROC build for next year and was hoping to get a 4-sub-4 0-60. I'm planning on doing a t56 swap, and buying a 350 from ATK. Of course this is all at least 14 months out ( Got to save up the monies. ) I don't really care about 1/4 because I don't plan on doing any racing and only plan on going a little over the speed limit from time to time. (Yes, I know its illegal, but going 65 instead of 60 is a risk I am willing to take.) My goal 0-60 time would be 4 or below, don't really need a 3 second so 3.75-4 would be good.

I'd say the greater challenge will be traction, I'm not convinced a 245/50R16, 275/40R17, or even 315/35R17 will hook that well, even drag radials, without getting the rear suspension dialed in for that instead of any cornering. Once that's done, using an automatic would make it easier, just play with higher-cost torque converters. Getting there with a T56 may well depend on gearing, which determines whether or not you need second gear to get to 60. And how often, in your normal use of the car, will 0-60 be so important? I can't say it has ever been an issue, even for impromptu races from red lights. Hardly worth so much investment. Build the car to feel right, let that time be whatever it may.

The lighter the car, the quicker it will accelerate.

Make it light, build a good suspension, add dot slicks and you'll be half way there.

Honestly, I kinda got excited because I watched a youtube video about a Camaro that had a 3.55 0-60 and decided I needed that. I think a more apt question is really what kind of acceleration rate I could get out of either of these. The car will be a street only car, no racing.

Again, the best engine in the world is useless if you can't put the power to the ground.

If thr car runs and drives now, invest in suspension and tired First.

Then worry about the horsepower and the fancy paintjpb your wanting.

What's your budget?

Be realistic, you're quickly looking at a 20k build.

Well I'm really looking at about 10k to do the suspension, braking, engine, tranny, etc. all the drivetrain and such. Body, interior, paint, tires, electronics and such, is seperate. Total budget is 20-23k. The project won't start till next fall, the car will be an iroc. Don't know about the suspension yet. Rims will be the American racing mainlines with bfgoodrich GeForce sport comp 2s. As I said this will be a street car so no racing tires. 17 inch btw. The engine is going to be about 2600 to buy + I'm thinking at least a thousand of little things, hoses, plugs, wires, etc. tranny is going to be a little over 3k for a t56 tranny rated to 600hp. Not sure about suspension, exhaust, brakes, and rear end yet as the project is still in it's early stages of conception. I would be happy with a 0-60 around 5 second

Your average 500 hp build will do it if you maintain traction. Less hp is needed with better traction. Drag radials are street tires by the way lol use them
