83 Z28 HORN ISSUES

So I searched around the forums looking for this but was unable to find a finished answer, or at least one with details relevant to the current situation I have.

I just purchased an 83 Z28 with about 99k on it. I'm pretty happy with it. Besides a few known issues that can wait for the moment, its drivable and looks great for its age.

My immediate issue now is getting it past inspection. I need a new flasher which is cake, but the horn, oh the horn. Its in pieces, and somehow its rusty, on the column. I'm pretty sure I can wipe most of that up, obviously the contacts aren't going to work while its rusted but I need to know which pieces I'm missing exactly so I don't order the wrong stuff. From what I've read the repair kits have fairly detailed instructions which I'm good at following, I just need some advice on what parts I should be ordering. It might be too rusted to work though and so far I haven't found the *exact* same horn button although I did find something similar...seem to have misplaced my link though...

Attached is an image of what I currently have.

If anyone has a similar year / experience and happens to know which parts I ought to order I would be much obliged. I'm filling up my rock auto basket as we speak hoping to get everything delivered before my 10 day temp inspection sticker is up.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Will post extremely detailed pics as I fix it for future reference to others.

UPDATE:

no wonder no one answered this, duh it just needed the contact pin and a new connector. Waiting for parts now...

not gonna lie just wanted to post up since I'm finally part of the community again.

Since the OP's post was from last May….I'm gonna take a wild guess and say he's passed inspection by now!
