91 Z28 5.0 TPI what to upgrade first?
I'm new to this forum and I'm sure this question has been asked a hundred times before but really need help on this and what route to take. I have a newly purchased 91 Z28 305 TPI A4. I already plan on purchasing the headers, y pipe, and exhaust. My question is what would be the next best thing to upgrade? I've thought about changing out the cams but don't wanna start off modifying the wrong things. Any info would be greatly appreciated

All depends on what you're looking to do......
My experience with a 5.0 liter Is headers w/ full exhaust, under drive pulley, A small cam similar to say LPE 219 219 or a ZZ4 cam,1.6 roller rockers, portwork done.to upper Plenum, cut the airbox out and install k&n filters, 3.73 gears w/5speed and a custom chip and of course a small shot of Nitrous

I'm thinking cams also but not sure exactly which brand is good or what's the largest size i could put in the 5.0 without changing up the heads

Wheels and tires then I would go cam& shift kit posi rear if you don't already have it but main thing is look around at other peoples rides and see what you like and what works well together as a complete setup but seriously wheels and tires first doesn't matter what you make if you cannot put it to the ground and the tires are then only part that is supposed to touch the ground

Shift kit in the transmission makes shift quicker & firmer also normally run with a stall converter but base that off of can and engine output goes back to whole system needs to work together and I'm not saying you have to spend a lot of money I picked up a set of 97 base level c5 vette wheel for 100 and from tires for free and another $100 for the rears a 373 posi from a 4th gen for $300 you just have to keep an eye out for deals and jump on them whenever you can

Research, buy books & read them, ask questions wherever you can, sign up for classes, and listen to people that know more than you and most importantly admit to what you don't know that is how you will learn the most and get the most you can out of what you have and can afford oh and BTW I wouldn't invest a whole lot in the 305 unless you are just in love with it or have always wanted to build one like I am with my 383 the lsx engines are cheap and way more efficient than small blocks

Honestly I just love camaro's in general. I know the 305 isn't the most powerful engine out there or the best one for drag like a 350 or 383 but having a car I can cruise on the weekends and blow the socks off a few cars is just fine with me.
