Struggles when rpms drop
Hey everybody, I'm knew to the forum and having a few issues on my 88 Camaro. The motor sounds great when it fires up and drives great when I'm on the gas. However, when I engage the clutch the rpms drop as they should but the motor seems to struggle to stay alive. The engine never actually shut off it sounds like it will for a few seconds then jumps back to normal idle.
I have changed the plugs, wires, and cap, it also has a new MAF sensor. Any thoughts?

There isn't quite enough info there. I assume it's a tpi? I'd start by checking for vacuum leaks. Check codes and fuel pressure.

It is a TPI 350, I have checked the fuel pressure and its fine. Ive done my best to check for vacuum leaks and that doesnt seem to be the issue either. The connection to my MAF from the air filter is a bit loose could that be the issue? I have tried to tighten it but the hose clamp is as tight as it will go.

Re: Struggles when rpms drop
When the car is at normal idle it is about 1100, havent noticed any difference in fuel consumption. When the rpms drop to idle (ie while driving and the clutch is in) the rpms drop to 500-1000 for a few seconds while fluctuating up and down then the idle picks up to 1100. A friend told me it could be my cam sensor.

Re: Struggles when rpms drop
Your engine does not have a cam sensor, only modern engines do.
1100 RPM is way to high for idle and without any change to fuel consumption, assuming your MPG has always been within tolerance, that definitely sounds like a vacuum leak.
The ideal action would be to get your car onto a diagnostic cable and see the values for all the sensors.
On further consideration...
Have you checked your TPS? It may be badly adjusted or defective.
