Does anyone know a good factory style mini starter that will fit my 84 camaro with 1 3/4 headers & 168 tooth flywheel. Or any good starters that will work, anyone else with 168 tooth flywheel & what kind they are using?

Factory style is not a mini starter.
Just about any mini starter should work as long as it's the correct application (tooth and bolt pattern). Try to get one that allows you to reclock it so you get the most distance from headers. That's what is hard on solenoids.

The larger blocker design types aren't as friendly with long tubes:

I just bought one from db electrical like the first image, but i cant get header clearance, it hits the header the body of the starter. Would you recommend a mini starter like the factory model. And what would be the right tooth application for what i have

I've been using a mini starter made like the factory style with the nose on it, but been having problems with them. I'm guessing it has to be shimmed kind of noisy & hits flywheel at times hard doesnt sound good.

Needs to be shimmed properly. If its grinding or hitting the plate I'd start with checking the gap.
Did you try taking out the bolt on the mini and reclocking it to get clearance from the headers?

Yeah i tried reclocking it but didnt work its kind of bulky. I had my doubts when i received it. I will try to shim the other starter i have, haven't tried it yet. But i did notice if i pull the gear out on the starter to check the clearance its real close to flywheel, i guess thats why its noisy & hits flywheel at times. Any suggestions on shimming it?

Use a paper clip uncurled and pull the starter gear out and check the gap with it. That's how I have shimmed them in the past. You can normally leave the inner most bolt in to hold the starter in place. Add shims as needed. Make sure to tighten the bolts. You won't get proper fit just by holding the starter in place and checking the gap.
