Something very wrong....
I've only got to drive this thing 500 miles since i got it in june and already im sick of it. My 383 seems to be way down on power but it idles smooth, runs smooth and cold and hasnt had any problems until now. After spending 50 on my oil change i start it and it starts smoking white, which i figured was me overfilling the oil so i drain it a bit and something is still wrong, when i see that its puking coolant from the intake. could any of this be related and how can i get the distributor off the easiest because it is really tucked under there.

Did you build the engine yourself? where on the intake is the coolant coming from? The white smoke and coolant in the intake are both very much related. If coolant is getting into the intake, it's getting into the cylinders. burning it is causing the white smoke. Is it coming from the bottom of the intake manifold? perhaps one of those gaskets went bad.

I didn't build the engine it was there when I got it. I know the white smoke is from the coolant leaking in the intake, could it explain being down on power. Its strange that the intake is leaking in the middle and pooling where the bolts at the on the passenger side but on the driver side its really leaking from the front corner on the driver side. Yep could also explain being down on power. It sounds to me like your intake manifold gaskets need to be replaced. Do you have any pictures of the leak?

Not now ill try to get some tomorrow. The intake gasket is definitely bad, theres coolant in my new 0 mile oil, just hoping the headgasket is good still. Any idea why this thing would just blow without starting with a small leak? Ive only ever heard of this on boosted applications.

I'd start with intake gaskets. If that doesn't fix it, it might be a warped intake like said above. My bet is on gaskets though.

Agreed. It's much more likely for a gasket to fail than for an intake to warp. Don't worry about it much until you replace the gasket and it doesnt fix it

It honestly doesnt matter if it is warped now, I dont have the cash for an intake. Im working hard enough for the 200 or so ill have into all this crap for plugs, oil, wires, and of course the gaskets. If the intake is warped I will just throw the cover over it and store it till spring that way.

I hear ya dude I'm broke as hell too and these cars are money-pits. x_x. But they are just so much fun that when you get it going right again you just forget about the money you put into it. Til something else goes wrong lol. Good luck with everything. But my money is still on the gaskets, not the intake. Don't worry too much till you know for sure what it is.
