removing useless parts
i have an 84 camaro sport coupe 305 v8 i want to know what parts in the engine bay i can take off that i dont need like the smog pump

what you "need" depends on whether or not you have emissions testing, and whether they do just a tailpipe test or if they do a visual to make sure everything is there..
i'll just assume you have no testing like here in MN..
you can take everything off the front of the motor except the alternator, PS pump, and AC compressor if you have AC.. you can throw away every vacuum hose except for the one for the pcv valve, the one that goes to the AC unit, and the one to the power brake booster.. you can get rid of every wire except for the alternator, distributor power plug, and AC clutch..
however
if you get rid of all of that stuff, you will have to get a carb and distributor off a late 70's car or truck with a small block.. you would need the distributor that has mechanical and vacuum advance built into it and a carb that doesn't have an electrical plug on it..
getting rid of all that useless crap really opens things up under the hood- you can actually see the engine- and makes it a lot easier to work on things.

thanks i live in a small farm town in az so i dont need to do anything emmissions related i had to get a new carb a year ago to get it running so i got an edelbrock my catyltic coverter clogged to i gutted it then yesterday i took off the smog pump
