Valve tap
So during the week i took off my valve covers to paint them and realized that some of the push rods and rockers had some play in them. I kind of rushed into adjusting them without even really knowing how too, i take all the blame for this one. Long story short there is a bit of a valve tap now that wasn't their prior to me touching it. I didn't not turn the nuts on the rockers i adjusted very far at all and only let the car idle for maybe a minute and a half, it has not been driven yet. So my question is what should i do now? any and all help will be greatly appreciated.... and yes i am familiar with the old saying "If it aint broken, don't fix it", but apparently i still cant seem to grasp that concept..

Re: Valve tap
I would learn and readjust the valves. There is a ton of info on the internet and here. It's not hard to do, just don't skip any steps. Once you have your starting point, you should back off the valves you touched and start over. Here is one step;https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...ing-valve.html or;http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91104 or,http://www.stevesnovasite.com/forums...d.php?p=194381

Re: Valve tap
yea i was going to try to just back off the valves that i have touched being that i never tightened them too far to begin with. Thanks for the help. One last question, to follow those steps it seems as if they are for an engine that has just been assembled, if i was to do it on an engine that has about 76k on the clock, do i have to loosen all the rockers? or just adjust from where they are now? Thanks again!

Re: Valve tap
You can loosen and re tighten only the ones you touched or do them all. New or old it doesn't matter, just fallow the sequence when adjusting.

Re: Valve tap
Thanks so much buddy this is the answer i was looking for. I wasnt sure if the sequence would apply to something with alot of miles on it. I will follow the directions exactly after loosening all of them. Thanks agian!
