.035 gap spark plugs?

As the tittle says, im looking into getting new plugs wires etc, but noticed a sticker under the hood saying the gap is supposed to be changed to .035.

Why would this be?

That was the "stock" gap. IIRC, I believe I read a stock setup is fine with 35-45. My system isnt stock, i gapped mine at 40 I believe

My first guess is emissions, but who knows. Im not sure what engine size you have, but it varies from year and engine. Ill look it up for you in my haynes manual and tell you what it says if youd like. Just need to know yr and engine size

Re: .035 gap spark plugs?

Don't worry about it... of all the things that actually MATTER about how the engine runs, the plug gap (within reason) is way down low on the list.

Anything between .035" and about .050" will make no perceptible difference whatsoever to anything.

Most plugs come out of the box gapped to about .045" these days; which will work fine in ANY of the motors in these cars.
