Smoke out of oil dipstick tube. PVC is brand new and hose

Alright. So I had a issue with my L98 where the cat was clogged and was causing the engine to get hot very quickly. I removed it and things were running good, temps were excellent. The car is still in the works as a project and I have yet to put a cat-back on so it's just the Y-pipe now. Well recently it's been getting hot rather quickly again. Talking less than a 3 minute trip and it's around 190. The other day went around the block and came back, turned the car off and there was white smoke coming out of the oil dipstick tube once I pulled the stick out. It was flowing pretty well. The engine was also ticked off as you could hear it tick tick tick. I know the PVC plays a big part in crankcase ventilation but I replaced it as well as the hose as they were both old. Anyone have any ideas?

Coolant is full and nice and green. No leaks. However, car had sat roughly 7 years before I got ahold of it. Top end is pretty much new, full tune up, injectors, oil change, etc. Put a new IAC on yesterday and cleaned up the throttle body really good. Only thing I can remember replacing recently was the charcoal canister. Was used and don't know the condition of it, probably bad. Would this cause that?

I figured it out!

I remember putting in the canister but it didn't come with a valve. I noted this but never put my old one back on it. Thus causing pressure build up.

This wasn't the issue.

Turns out I was about 1qts over full and the oil blew past my intake gaskets and got into the intake and cause all hell. All is better now

It wasn't going past your intake gaskets, your crank was wipping it into mist and the PCV was aspirating it.

Don't think that would have anything to do with it heating up, though.

Yea, i dont believe that would cause your problem. But is it still heating up/overheating fast?

What is your oil pressure? Whens the last time u changed the oil & filter?
