sitting in the garage for years.... what to do?
Alright guys so i really need your help on this one..
its a 2.8L 86 firebird The car was used from 1986-1994.. its pretty much been in the garage since!
i took it out last year once for a drive but thats about it.. this summer im planning on making it my daily driver. My question is what should i be changing on the car to make sure it drives as well as it did in 86!
should i just change the main fluids (oil, pretsone) or do other things aswell?
Thanks

Changing all of the fluids is a must and I would also flush out the fuel system unless you have been running fresh fuel through it.You don't say what part of the country you live in and climate does play a factor in how things age.
The way I see it the cost of new filters and fluids is a lot cheaper then broken parts.

If it ran last year, you're already most of the way there. Fill it with fresh fuel, run that tank out ASAP, then fill it up again and change the fuel fiter and get the injectors cleaned professionally.
Also check all rubber for cracking. Check brake rotors for rust. If it was stored inside, a few hard stops might clean them up. Be prepared for some oil leaks since the gaskets have likely shrunk.
