transferring 91 TPI to an 86 Camaro carbed- help!
Got an 86 carbed Iroc(factory) that I just picked up an 91 parts car. The TPI engine and the trans are in great working order. I want to transfer the drive train.
My question is this: will the computer just transfer over to the 86, or do I have to do a full wiring harness/dash swap?
Are there any other options?
Thanks for your help.

there are a couple ways of doing the swap, are you using the 700r4 from the 91 ? The speedometer on the 86 is cable driven so you could use that trans and install a retrofit 4k ppm vss signal and send it to the ecm. If you have the 91 speedometer and harness that would be a better way to go but you need to install the steering column and passkey system or bypass it with appropriate resister or 30hz module. You also need to install a ep241 fuel pump. There maybe changes in the 91 to the 86 on c100 as well.

the engine bay ECM harness plugs into the dash harness on the passenger side footwell area. These wires differ between the two cars but have a few things that match right up.
You need to read wiring diagrams, match up what's the same and add / re-route what's not. Example: the TPI ECM runs the check engine light directly. the Q-jet cars had a lamp driver that can be eliminated. Fuel pump wiring is another example; most EFI GM cars of the era ran wiring alongside the taillight harness on the driver's side of the interior. It's fairly simple stuff, but there's enough to keep you busy for a little while.
Or, since both are Camaros, a full wiring swap of everything would be a pretty valid way to go. Electric speedos are a good thing.
Either way, you should learn what's different between the two cars so you can service it in the future.
