83 305 4bb no start
Hey ive got an 84 Camaro with a 305 and a Quadrajet.
Last time i drove the car it overheated so i replaced the radiator because it had a leak, as it turns out.
Ever since it overheated i cannot for some reason get it to start.
Just recently ive repaced the cap, rotor and coil. I also took the ICM and had it tested. Its good.
Checked so far, ive got power, spark and fuel
I'm really getting frustrated. Anybody have any suggestions?

could check if cam out of time with crank(chain jumped)
check for plugged catalytic converter(if present)or other
plug in exhaust. Also recheck that spark timing and
firing order are correct and that plugs arent shorted.
Does car pop or chuff any while trying to start?

No it doesn't. All it does is click like it would with a dead battery but I had that tested at autozone and it's fine. The cell is good and it has no problem holding a charge

If it's clicking, then the starter's not getting the power it needs to turn the engine over...check your battery cables for corrosion. Could be a bad ground as well. If the car had jumped time, the starter would still at least turn the engine over (but skip around on the broken/missing timing gear teeth while in the process).

Should i rip out the starter and have it tested? Or do you think that would be a waste of time?

Take all of your spark plugs out and observe the condition of each. See if it will turn over with the plugs out, maybe with a light shot of WD 40 in each hole. Make sure y our coil wire is disconnected when you crank it with the plugs out.

Well if it's not even turning over, it's the job of the starter to do that. Sounds like your solinoid is getting power (it's clicking) - so yeah, have your starter tested. If it turns over and doesn't start, then it's another ball game. But make sure your batt cable contacts are clean both at the battery and the starter first.

Re: 83 305 4bb no start
The motor may be locked up. It could be seized up or the cylinder walls may have become washed somehow. If the starter worked fine before, the overheat episode shouldn't have affected it. The episode may, however, have affected the pieces/parts that the starter motor is trying to turn.
Try removing all of your spark plugs and observing the condition of each. See if it will turn over with the plugs out, maybe with a light shot of WD 40 in each hole. Make sure your coil wire is disconnected when you crank it with the plugs out.

It's possible you blew a head gasket when you overheated it and a cylinder could be waterlocked since water doesn't compress. Is it even trying to turn, or just clicking?

Re: 83 305 4bb no start
at this point might as well pull all the plugs and the
belts and make sure the engine turns by hand and
no coolant in the cylinders-if you got it really hot and
boiled it dry, could have a cracked head.
Bad starter could be the problem too-even if it runs ok
out of the car, could have broken connections or stuck
or worn brushes making it crank weak.
