I have no idea what to look for I was told something aboujt zinc content but someone please enlighten me. I'm ready to start oiling and priming the engine.

Re: quik rookie quest

Here is a link with good info on oil. Even though it is at a motorcycle site it discusses oil formulations.

http://www.motorcycleanchor.com/moto...to/mc_oil.html

Pretty much don't get a cheap oil. When I worked at Exxon Port Allen Lubes plant (in the lab) there was a regular grade that had less additives in it as compared to their HD grade. The cheaper was also marketed under the Dollar Store brand. I also tested some Pennzoil and it compared to the HD grade. Usually an oil graded for diesel engine use is HD. Multi-viscosity oil is a good thing and is recommended by all manufacturers that I know of.

i found this one from summit will this work and will my 305 starter work with this flexplate ( http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AA...n/?prefilter=1) or do i need this one? and what is the difference? the real ddifference? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AA...n/?prefilter=1

Re: quik rookie quest

I believe the difference between a pre 87 and post 87 flexplate is in the spacing of the bolt holes. Since your using a pre 87 block you'll need to use the flexplate from that engine.
