camaro wont start

camaro wont start

camaro wont start washed the engine then the next day it ran rough started to backfire then died now it wont start at all pulled the distributer was loose. cleaned it up then i forgot which way it went back in so i put the engine on the compression cycle at 0* tdc reinstalled made sure tht the rotor and the #1 plug wire were lined up and tried to fire it up just kept turning over i pulled the #1 plug and checked for spark had spark. any ideas on wht the problem is

Could be 180 degrees out, I have been fooled before by a exhaust stroke rather than a compression stroke. I would pull dist. and try again. [ next time put a plastic bag over your dist. ]

i am positive im on the compression stroke i felt air blow by my finger and i used a screw driver and my timing mark on the engine to find tdc made sure my plug wires were hooked up right and that the rotor was lined up with the 1 plug wire

i just double checked and even turned the distubuter 180* my plugs are blackened but they look normal. thinking about getting it towed to a mechanic

Do a spark plug change, you may have fouled them.

i did a spark plug change and upgraded the coil and spark plug wires


I finally got it running my timing was to retard.
