High Idle/RPM after paint job
Back story, I had a paint job about 1.5 years ago, and my 90 tbi camaro was not happy afterwards, the ignition control module failed. I replaced it and all went well.
In early November I was rammed by some jerk with road rage. I got my Camaro back yesterday with fresh paint and now it idles super high, like 1500-1800 in park at operating temperature. In drive it runs between 1200-1500 sitting at a stop. also my RPM gauge is going red line and well beyond to bottoming out under wide open throttle.
My main question is this, after paint they heat the car right, to bake on the paint?
Does this have some impact on the gas in the tank or electrical parts, other components?
Car was painted at a dealership. It seems like either my car does not like new paint or suffers from the heat, or it just gets separation anxiety

Re: High Idle/RPM after paint job
If the battery was disconnected (likely) the ECM lost all its BLM/INT data. The TPS voltage at ignition turn-on is important. Make sure the TPS voltage is below 1.0V and remove/clean the IAC stepper motor. It might also be helpful to check the resistance of the CTS and IAT sensors, since both of those will contribute to the target idle RPM calculations.

Idk how stealership paint job goes, but from experience just incase, look up the locations of your body mounted ground straps and see if one was taken off or cut or damaged
