Intake leak?
Ok basically have new heads and head gaskets on car but the intake is old. The intake was actually repaired because the first coolant passage on the ds was corroded and had a piece missing out of it causing coolant to leak out of the motor. The intake was repaired with a jb weld product but it seems that is the weak link in this setup and am betting that is where the problem has been the whole time. any thoughts?

If the intake is aluminum you can pull it off, clean the old JB weld off of it and have it properly welded..

Re: Intake leak?
I am not worried about replacing the intake but i want to justify replacing or fixing it before actually doing it. If the intake is not a strong possibility that that is the problem causing the white smoke I will hold off on the intake for the moment.

Re: Intake leak?
We can only guess at your problem. You will have to pressure test the cooling system and see if that intake is your problem. If that doesnt work you'll have to pull intake an check it out.

Re: Intake leak?
A cooling system pressure test would determine if it is more likely the intake and not something else? forgive my lack of knowledge but what during the coolant pressure test would point towards the intake being faulty?

It would determine if the intake is the problem or not.

Re: Intake leak?
White smoke out of the exhaust. It doesn't bellow out but it's similar to when it's cold out in the morning and every car burns off the condensation in the system but when it warms up it doesn't go away. Havent driven it yet however so I do t know if it worsens upon driving or if the car is down on power.

Re: Intake leak?
white smoke points to water in the combustion chamber, its either a bad head gasket or leaky intake or intake gasket. either way, the intake needs to come off. if the intake or gaskets look fine, then pull the heads off. if the head gaskets are fine, then it points to internal block or head damage (not very likely, but possible).

Re: Intake leak?
I hope to rule out the heads being as they were completely redone and milled and the head gaskets are brand new fel pros. I tend to believe it's the intake at this point and if that doesn't solve it then the only thing left would be the block itself.

Re: Intake leak?
Already have the intake off and didn't see anything abnormal. I did notice that the intake gasket I used does not have the rear passages blocked but the intake itself does have them blocked off but probably not the issue. I'll take a picture of the intake repair and post it.
