How can i identify a 383 stroker?
I got a friend that called me today and said he had a 383 shortblock for sale.
He said i would need heads and that the short block is already rebuilt.
Im gonna go take a look at it today and im wondering what i should look at to verify its a 383? Is there any particular way of knowing? I plan on checking the casting numbers first to verify it as a 350 block
But what exactly should i look for?

Roll one piston all the way to the bottom, then measure from the piston to the top of the block, should be 3 3/4" (3.750)

So measure from the top of the piston to the top of the block?
What about the crank? Would it hold any type of identification #?
