Just installed new "Autometer Gauge Tach" 500rpm lower than the spec. Plz HELP?
So I had the place install a Tach Gauge Rpm Meter and Its 500 rpm off (500 lower than what it should be). When I get near 2000 rpm on my original rpm gauge it read 1500rpm on the Autometer...
I thought, well maybe it is actually right and my "stock" gauge is off... But when I was driving 70mph on the freeway the Autometer said I was at 1900 rpm(wrong) and my stock said I was at 2400rpm(right).
So there is something definitely wrong with my Autometer. I sent it in and told them the problem, they didn't tell me what was wrong and they sent me another one and said that they calibrated it correctly before it left. But when I had it installed it did the same thing.
Any Ideas?

Stock tachs usually are not that accurate so your new one just might be showing the correct rpm. Just guessing your tire size of being 26 inches, going by this site's chart, www.f-body.org/gears your new tach is probably correct.
