MSD 6AL/Tach Filter
Just installed MSD 6AL and I'm getting the erratic tach above 3000 RPMs... I'm just trying to find the correct MSD filter to correct this problem for my car. 8910? 8920? I'm using a stock distributor.. Thanks

Re: MSD 6AL/Tach Filter
I spoke to MSD as well, I was told I needed PN#8920 by one of there techs. Another one of there techs told me I just need to remove an inline filter, which I dont think I even have. I also called Summits tech line, after talking with them and having them look at the MSD 6AL instuctions we came up with MSD PN#8910... If you still have the directions from the MSD box or if you dont just hit the MSD box you have on the Summit site..When you look at the MSD 6 aL on Summit you can click on directions..The same ones that came with the msd... Anyway page 7 (tach issues)tells you need 8920 if you installed it with violet and green wires(magnetic trigger) . I installed mine as per the top of page 14 in the msd instructions, I DID use the white wire(voltage trigger) So it calls for PN#8910. When the voilet/green are used you need the 8920. I should have the 8910 by mid week so I'll know soon if it works..

Re: MSD 6AL/Tach Filter
I installed my msd using the white wire so as per instructions I used the 8910 filter and my factory tach is all good again. If you installed using a violet wire u would have needed the 8920 filter... Good luck.

Re: MSD 6AL/Tach Filter
The instructions say to remove the factory filter, but from what I read, few models of third gens have it.
