Stock Valve Covers

Hello,

I hope this is not a silly question and yes I did some searching...Stock '113' alum heads, OE style Comp springs and the latest Comp Ultra Pro Magnum RRs - Will the stock Corvette valve covers work? I'd like to use them if possible.

Thanks in advance...

No resposes heh??

Anyway, my motor is nearing completion and at this point the aforementioned "Stock Vette Valve Covers" at least appear to fit. It is very tight where the PCV baffle fits down between the rocker arms and I have not yet determined if the drippers will hit the rockers when it is running. What are drippers?? Someone told me the tabs that stick down from the top of the cover (on the inside) and 'catch' the oil that comes from the push rods are called drippers. They are a casted part of the cover.

Is it OK to pinch the baffle together (alittle) to gain more room between the trunions?

Is it OK to shave off some of the length of the drippers?

Rockers are 1.6 (intake) and 1.52 (exhaust) and cam is Lunati (Harold's finest) 211 single pattern .507 lift.

Re: Stock Valve Covers

If your using 1.6 rockers you need tall valve covers. Dont think they will clear the short valve covers

If that ends up being the case which tall covers are recommended? I'm not interested in fancy thin chrome stuff, I'd like quality stuff that won't leak. Anything in stock form?

Re: Stock Valve Covers

Do you have center bolt or perimeter bolt valve covers?

Re: Stock Valve Covers

heres some center bolt tall covers
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRO-141-131/
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SPE-5032/

when installing them put a coat of the red gasket sealer stuff on both sides of the valve cover gasket. It will keep it from leaking

Answering your first response, center bolt. Those black ones (PRO-141-131) look pretty nice. Bit pricey but they do have enough holes for the crankcase vent, oil fill, and PCV.

Anybody have some they are trying to get rid of?

Re: Stock Valve Covers

1.6:1 vs 1.5:1 makes no difference in the need for a taller valve cover. It's the fact that they are full roller rockers that makes the difference. 1:6:1 roller-tip or 1.6:1 stamped will fit under stock covers justfine.

Re: Stock Valve Covers

I have gm full roller rockers 1:6:1 on my engine, using stock valve covers that came on the 90 camaro. Try the corvette covers first, before you buy some-more.
