My car is leaking coolant, don't know from where!
So I noticed this morning that my camaro had a puddle under it, of coolant. Keep in mind my car has NEVER leaked anything in the two years I've owned it. I've looked at hoses, the radiator, engine... has this happened to anyone else, or could you give me ideas of where else to look to find the leak!

Feel the bottom of the water pump - there's a weep hole there where is seeps coolant when the water pump goes bad - see if it's wet.
Is it front of engine or rear? If front, would be water pump, hoses, radiator leak, overflow tank. If rear might be heater core hoses or intake gasket.

Had the same problem. Couldn't figure out were the leak was coming from. It was the weep hole in the water pump. Just changed it last weekend and no more problem. BTW if you decide to change it yourself, it's going to take you a little while and an extra set of hands wouldn't hurt either. It's not hard to do, just time consuming. The extra set of hands comes in handy when you are putting the new one on. Oh, yeah. I looked up the part on NAPA's website. Printed off the page and took it with me. Web price $47. Price in store $79. They honored the web price no questions asked. Don't forget your RTV and thread locker. Oh and you'll need a gallon or so of antifreeze. You've got to drain the radiator before you get started. It's a good time to replace the lower radiator hose too. Ok, I'm shutting up now.

Lots of times, when it has that problem, the dripping coolant will appear under the end of the bottom hose, at the radiator end.

WoW Thanks for all the info guys! I have to wait until I'm off again to look at the car (not my daily driver) but when I do, I'll let you know if I find anything! I've changed a water pump before, on a V6 1992 Camaro, so I shouldn't have too much trouble. I'm hoping it just the water pump.... here's hoping!

Re: My car is leaking coolant, don't know from where!
I am having the same problem. My car is leaking rad fluid. Weird this is that it is from the back of the engine block where the oil pan is underneath the car. Idk if that is just where the fluid is running to and dripping or if the back if the motor is where its dripping from.
My upper hose lower hose and radiator show no signs of fluid drips. The thermostat shows no drips. Thought maybe my heater core hoses and nope there is nothing dripping out side the car at the fire wall or inside the car. Anyone have ideas? is it a blown head gasket? the car does holds more pressure then normal. Please Help.

Probably the heater hose that attaches to the intake, at the engine end of the hose.
Fitting is probably ate up with the dissimilar-metal electrolysis problem we all know and love.

Can you go open your hood, LOOK AT the hoses all by yourself with your own eyes, follow them from the firewall to the engine, and see if there's coolant coming out of there?

Sure thing, SMART A**. please don't Patronizeme. I am trying to get processionals input. Thought you might be able to give me a clue where to "start" looking. But thanks.
Freeze plug? I didn't even know we had them. I'll check that to. Its good to know head gaskets would be on the inside. That makes me feel a little more calm. After I looks at the back hoses I will check that out to. Thank you soo much.

"Start" looking at the firewall, at end A of the heater hoses. Follow them to end B. Check for leaks there.
I'm not "patronizing"; I'm encouraging you to GET UP OFF YOUR LAZY BUTT AND DO THE TINIEST SLIVER POSSIBLE OF work. Those of use out here in Algore land don't need to spoonfeed an obviously intelligent, hard-working, motivated, eager, willing, go-getter like you.

Please do not reply to my post anymore dude if your going to talk to me like that. The sarcasm is really not needed and very disrespectful.
Any one else have suggestions on the location of the leak from the back of the block it looks like its by the oil pan. Thank you.

Re: My car is leaking coolant, don't know from where!
My cooling system is building too much pressure. causing my hoses to stiffen and when trying to fill the rad up with coolant when I hit the throttle and let off the coolant keeps flowing out by the cap then when I cut the car off it shoots out like a fountain. That a different problem I am asking about in another from. I am trying to see if there is a hose I cant see leaking and not a head gasket. Thanks.

Re: My car is leaking coolant, don't know from where!
It usually runs along the passenger side valve cover. That probably isnt where your leak is coming from because the control valve sits closer to the front of the engine. But it is connected to hoses whuch come out of firewall from heater core. I can take pictures of it if u want later so you know what im talking about.

Re: My car is leaking coolant, don't know from where!
My guess would be one of the 2 hoses coming out of firewall for the heater core or maybe the intake manifold gasket is leaking. There is a coolant crossover in the rear of the intake manifold. If the gaskets bad you could have a coolant leak there. Or its the hose that runs from the heater control valve to the rear of the intake/engine.

So when you GOT UP OFF YOUR LAZY BUTT AND LOOKED, instead of DEMANDING that all of us out here in Algoreland spoon-feed you and DO ALL YOUR WORK FOR YOU, where did you observe the coolant coming out from?
Tell us what you saw; then you won't have to worry about responses to your post, because you will then KNOW, by DOING, what you want to know.
Can't any of us out here see the car any better than you can. You can keep us all (well, the gullible ones, anyway) playing "maybe it's this, maybe it's that" games as long as they don't figure out that they're being scammed; but can't ANY of us do any better than YOU, as far as being USEFUL, can do by GETTING OUT THERE AND LOOKING.
Not too much to expect out of someone who supposedly wants to FIX THEIR CAR.

Look at the bottom of that plast heater valve for signs of leakage, either green AF or dried up like white crystals.
Pressure thing ? your tstat should be open at 195 degrees, also radiator cap needs to be properly working for pressure reflief, allows AF to flow to overflow tank. Something as simple as a cap can cause havoc.

Nope, as said, over passenger side valve cover looks like a mushroom thing .... see red hose in pic, plastic heater valve w/ vac line and two black hoses .. connect to heater core at fire wall.
