Check engine light
Alright heres what ive got, I just got a 84 trans am Recaro edition, it has the VIN code G L69 305 HO engine, all original , I got the car for free, it has been sitting for a while, i rebuilt the Quadra Jet, and the car was running good besides the exhaust leak annoying the crap outta me. I was driving it the other night and out of no where the check engine light popped on and it started running like a dog.I got home a noticed two wires were burnt on the exhaust, I fixed them, I tried to do the self test and can not get the check engine light to blink the codes off to me, then i hooked a dwell meter on to make sure i didnt have to readjust the carb again and now im getting nothing on the dwell, is it possible the ecm just went out on it? Im new to GM ive been ford all my life. Some one please help me

Re: Check engine light
Did you try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes to reset the ECM, and see what happens?
