light white smoke?
Ok, lately i have been seeing some white smoke coming out of my car's exhaust when it's idleing. I don't think it is doing it while i accelerate, but it is noticable especially when the temperature drops outside. The smoke gets a little thicker. It almost looks like steam? now the car runs good, no antifreeze in the oil and vice versa. Runs it's *** off actually.LOL. Anyhow, a couple of years ago, i ran the car about 60 miles on the highway with a loose radiator cap. Needless to say i lost all of my coolant. Yeah, i know. Anyway, the engine temp hit like 250-260 , so i let it run and then filled it up with water while it was running and the car cooled down. Ok, so it ran good after that , but felt like it lost about 20 horses or so. The car still has a lot of power and i do drive it everyday since then. So, I'm not sure if that past situation has anything to do with it. Well, just lately i have been noticing the very faint white smoke. I guess it may be steam. The car never goes above 180 degrees ,except in the summer when it may hit 205 at the max. I have a 160 degree thermostat. So, what do you all think?

Re: light white smoke?
When its cold out you may get some steam withthe warm exhaust hitting the cool air.
If you really bake a motor you can lose tension in your valvesprings and lose a little power. Careful running it up too high IF thats the case, can float valves/tag a piston real easy.
Checking a spring wouldnt take too much.

Re: light white smoke?
Also, other people tend to notice my car making the excess amount of steam on a cold day too. Could it be because of the headers making the exhaust hotter?
