IAC or TPS?

these two are my guesses heres what my cars doing. at start up vacuum leak sound through my throttle body what is that? when i decelerate to a stop the car enjoys stalling and also when sitting for periods of time with light throttle usage IE drive throughs. so after speaking with some members as well as reading posts i believe i have it narrowed down just seeing if anyone else has had this problem and found the solution so i dont have to the hard way.

Re: IAC or TPS?

The computers are pretty smart and can normally pic up on it when those kind of items are bad.
Do you have a service engine light on? Check for stored codes?

Re: IAC or TPS?

Service engine light is good then. Its going to help you with the problem. Don't disconnect the battery or pull any fuses until you check the code(s).
All codes will flash three times before moving to the next.
First you will see is 12, distributor reference. You get that always because the engine is not running. It also lets you know that your jumper wire to the ALDL is got connection!
Code 12 three times and then the next code three times and so on until you see code 12 again and that is the process starting over.

Go check codes and get back here. I'm waiting...............

Re: IAC or TPS?

got em checked and at first i had 8 codes lol 13 15 22 23 24 32 and a couple others that were in the 40's or 50's. i disconnected the battery and drove to my parents house. this gave the ses light time to respond. i checked it again when i got there and all i threw was a code 15 so my temp sensor is bad? however during this drive the car did not stall meaning neither the tps or the IAC would have failed. i did fix the intake leak my tbi gasket was awful i replaced it and it stops that hissing at cold start up.

Re: IAC or TPS?

Well there you have it. Check the wires and plug and if they look fine replace the temp sensor. Cheap, easy and imporatnt as that tells the ECM the engine temp so if its wrong it can play games with you.
You do know that the temp sensor is located in the intake.(not the one in the heads) Has a yellow wire and a black wire.
