Cold start injector issue.

Ok so what, if any, would be the advantages of changing my cold start injector on my throttle body? Is there really any way to tell if they are bad or faulty? Reason being, my engine is a pain in the A$$ to keep running in the morning. I start it, it dies right away and makes a rattling noise that sounds as if my exhaust is loose. I start it again and sometimes it dies, and sometimes the engine surges. I pretty much have to hold my RPM's up around 1500 for about 5-10 minutes just so the engine will remain running. All the while freezing to death. WTF??

Re: Cold start injector issue.

If the cold start injector was bad, it would be difficult to start. You say it starts and then dies. That indicates your cold start injector is doing it's job, but something else isn't. I'm sure that folks a lot more knowledgeable than I will weigh in on this subject. I would recommend starting with the easy stuff first. Check your fuel pressure and ohm the injectors. Either of these items can cause a cold engine to quit.

Re: Cold start injector issue.

My car had the same issue before I rebuilt the engine. The way I found around having to warm it up for it to run right is I put in a heated O2 sensor. After that, once it started, it was good to go without warm ups.
