I've never heard a good thing about those World S/R heads.
What you want for a nice 305 is Trick Flow "Super 23" 175cc heads.
The entry assembled set is; http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-30300001/
Those are setup for max .480 lift but there are two other setups they offer depending on the cam lift you want to use.

look, this just isn't fair. World makes a good product and has been one of the leaders in the industry for a long time.
I'll tell ya what, if you want those heads, I'll get them for you, $875 SHIPPED to your door for the pair, complete, any way you spec. Give me valve size and springs and we'll do it.
Yes, World is a little old school in their advertising, they really don't get new media, but if you ever spoke with them you'll understand they know what they are doing.
The only lack in their products is that they don't advertise effectively. I know the family personally, and they know what they are doing.

Re: World Heads For A 305
I've seen a 2008 pair with the valves out, the short turns aren't big like the Vortecs, and the published flow results from several years before reflects this. Also, the chamber shape isn't modern, so it'll probably need more spark advance. That's negative torque. You can get new assembled Vortecs for the same $ as new bare 305 Torquers. Also, when CarCraft did that 305 build in '00, they tried the Torquers and the Vortecs. Guess which did better? The cam was a 218/224 from COMP. Even so, the Vortecs were best. That's why I agreed with Doom86. Yes, you'll have to buy an intake manifold, but you get the valves and springs includes, so it's still a wash.

I've never used them but just given the limited results from people using their S/R heads on their 305's I can't suggest them. I've never used the TFS heads either but given the AWESOME results people have had with them on their 305's I can suggest those.
What concerns me with the S/R heads is they have +20cc bigger intake ports over stock 305 heads but flow peaks the same. That is wrong for many reason IMO, stock heads even have smaller valves with poor design and single angle valve jobs.
I'm not trying to stir **** up just discussing the pros/cons. Seeing a member with a fully built 305 running 14's with these heads is reason for concern. $1000 is a lot of money where I live and I would hate to see someone waste it.

"S/R" stands for "stock replacement". For a little less money, you can take off your 305 heads, disassemble them, get a Standard Abrasives Do-It-Yourself porting kit, and clean up the ports per the guide included with the kit. Then take them to a machine shop, have them cut the seats for 1.94" intake valves, pin the rocker studs (unless you want to do that yourself), cut the top of the valve guides, install better springs and stem seals, and you'll have something better than out-of-the-box S/R's.
I bought a set of those heads back in '01. Unless they've changed their ways, the bowls are horrible as-delivered. The ports are very rough, the short-side radius just like stock heads (hmmm, "S/R"???), and the machining of the valve seats leaves a big step in bad places in the bowls. All of this can (and should) be cleaned up using the SA porting guide. They do have the bigger valves already, and screw-in rocker studs. I punched through to the water jacket by using 1" long header bolts.
Or, get a set of upgraded Vortec heads from sdparts.com, and have them shaved to 58cc chambers. Requires a Vortec intake manifold, but sdparts has a kit with heads, intake, gaskets, bolts, and rocker arms set up for .575" lift, all ready to go for you for around $1100 (just get them shaved after you receive them).

Oh, forgot to mention: I've seen several articles on the World S/R heads. Every one of them had them pocket ported before they did ANYTHING with them - flow, dyno, drag strip, etc.

I'm not sure where you're getting that. 416's have 165cc intake ports, the World S/R Torquer 305's are 170cc.

five7kid got me wanting to check my heads when I swap them out to see what volume they are stock now.
