v6 fuel injection woes

I finally got the security bypass put in and the fuel pump is pumping. I still am notm getting fuel to the cylinders. I have power to all the injectors. The fuel pressure regulator is working. Any ideas and how do I check? Background, The car had been sitting about three or four years. I drained old fuel and put in fresh. The vats wire at the switch broke and never got diagnosed. I bypassed the whole system. They had replaced nuetral safety switch. Put in wrong etc. I fixed. Apparently the next owners put in a new fuel pump and relay and filter to fix. Now I have it and it is not getting fuel. Or at least not enough to try to run. It will start on starting fluid but will not stay running. No fuel. Could I have most or all the injectors clogged or gummed up from the old gas? What are your ideas and how to check or fix. I know very little about fuel injection.

Re: v6 fuel injection woes

Did you check for fuel at the fuel rail or the lines at the injectors? Just to make sure fuel is gettin to them? did you replace the fuel filter? You need to make sure gas is getting to them. Then we can figure out whats going on.

Ok I got home late but did check on the fuel to fuel rail. I am apparently not getting any to the fuel rail. The filter was replaced. I have fuel to the flex hose at the side of the motor. I will start pulling the top down to check the fuel block and let you know. Hopefully by tomorrow evening will have it tore apart to get more specific.
Thanks for that very good start. As I said before I do not know fuel injection. I did not believe that was the problem, but if I want help I have to be willing to start where ever you point to. Sure enough you was right on the starting point.

Re: v6 fuel injection woes

Thats it, just work backwards from the rail. Then you will find were the fuel stops or is blocked off. Then we can fix it.

Re: v6 fuel injection woes

Thanks for letting me know that I am on the right path to track this down. Remember if it wasn't for you I would not have checked that. Right now I have a great deal of respect for what you are saying. I do not mind somebody keeping me on my toes. I now must say that the pressure regulator test I was told to try was not going to work.

Re: v6 fuel injection woes

Well thank you. The best way to track it down is. First, make sure the fuel pump is working, by that I mean diconnect the line going into the filter and have someone turn on the key, it will take less than a second to see if gas is coming out of the line, turn the key off 2 replace the line back. we know the filter is new so we can move up from there, go to the fuel pressure regulator, disconnect the fuel line befor it like on the filter turn key on and the same thing should happen, fuel from it. Then hook back up and go from the other side of the regulator that comes out same thing. The fuel system for fuel injec is really the same as a crab, in this case it is, fuel tank, in tank pump, filter, regulator and injector rail. so really there are only a few places that can stop the flow.
Jest let me know what you find, we will get you back up and running. And if all else you can PM me here so we dont tie up the thread. It's up to you.

Re: v6 fuel injection woes

The rain cut my time on the car short but did find a blockage in the return line. It is now cleared but am still wanting to be sure the rest of the lines and fuel rail is flowing free. I am also going to double check the bypass and verify all is as it should be. It can't hurt. At this point the return line should not have stopped it from running. I have fuel to the fuel rail. Is there an easy way to check the injectors? I have it this far apart a little more and they could be out. Is there a way to check and see it the computer is grounding the injectors if that is what it does? I would much rather do the extra work now, even if it turns out not actually needed, while it is apart.

Re: v6 fuel injection woes

Well, there these things called injector noid lights you plug them into each injector plug one at a time and go to start the car you do that to each of them. If the light flahes then you are getting power the the injector , then it just might be the injectors, other than that I have no idea on checking them 1 by 1.

Re: v6 fuel injection woes

The rain temporarily quit. I checked and all lines are clear. I checked for proper injector grounding and that is good. The injectors are powered and are intermittently grounded by the ECM. However in the process I noticed that the fuel pressure seems to be low so will buy a fuel pressure gauge and check. My often wrong manual says 34-39 psi. I feel like it is less than half that. I might guess that when it was replaced it was the wrong one. Any other thoughts while I check this? Probably an Airtek pump.
