5,500 RPM should be safe for my LU5 right?
So, I had a Corvette governor installed in the 700R4 trans in my '83 Crossfire. It has cured the shifting problems I had from the mystery rebuild the previous owner had done.
As advertized, this governor's WOT 1-2 shift is at 5,500 RPM. My concern is that the indicated redline on the LU5 is 5,000 RPM. But the redline on my '89 LB9 is 5,500 and and they both have the same bottom end....so....should I worry?

I wouldn't worry about it hurting the motor. If I remember right, I shifted my lg4 at 6000rpm and a couple of times with 12psi added to it.

My LO3 is 4500. It's the optimum shift point, not the max the engine can take.

I've been shifting my L98 at 6000rpm's on a stock bottom end. No problems yet.

Thanks guys. I wish I were making power on that last 500 RPM instead of just noise.

Sorry no, but the trans shop had a standard governor and a "Corvette governor". I'm pretty sure if you specify "Corvette governor" you'll get that higher 1-2 shift point. I see them advertized on ebay all the time.

Ok. I'm wondering because I tried GM #24202117 in a '91 th700r4 and it would not shift at WOT.
