Vortec Head spark plug

Somehow i ended up thinking vortec heads used .750" reach spark plugs when in fact they use .708" reach plugs. Now the engine is running with the .750" plugs which are autolite 3923's. Any downside to running the little extra reach?

Re: Vortec Head spark plug

this is just a guess, and forgive me if thats not good enough.

but if it were a horrible problem, the worst thing you would have to worry about, would be the pistons punching the crap out of them

asside from that you really only have to worry about premature fouling due to the plug being more exposed in the cylinder.

Thanks for the reply! The engine is running great so the piston issue isnt a problem but maybe i will switch to the correct plugs just to be safe!. Thanks vamp

Re: Vortec Head spark plug

get the right .708" reach plugs. The end of the theads are exposed in the combustion chamber will casue hot spots /detonation.

Use champion RS12YC or equal in vortec heads.
