OR
Engine:
Start by removing the intake manifold
remove the valve covers
remove rocker arms making sure they go back in the same location
remove pushrods
remove lifters
spark plugs
Components:
remove the radiator
remove A/C condensor
Remove everything in front of the above mentioned
then the lower pulley
harmonic balancer
water pump
Under the car:
start with the exhaust y pipe
then oil pan you can't remove it but just drop it down and let it rest on the K-Member
Now remove your timing cover
Now you can remove the bolts on the camshaft along with the sprocket.
be careful removing the cam you dont ding up your cam bearings. pull it gently and straight. A large bolt threaded into the end of the cam helps.
make sure and time the new cam when installing it. Then reverse the process.
It's a time consuming process and make sure to label all hoses and connections when removing them.

I haven't chaned a cam but I can give you a good idea. You'll need to remove the intake manifold, the valve covers, the water pump, timing cover, timing chain, maybe the alternator, radiator, condenser, and any accessories on the front of the block that might be in the way. You'll be pulling the cam out through the front. Also remove the rocker arms, valve springs (you'll need to rent a special tool to do this), pushrods (be sure they don't fall into the block). Keep all these parts organized and make sure you put them back in the same spot. You'll need to lube up your new cam pretty good with some cam lube. Change your oil before you start it up again. On the break-in startup, you'll need to let it run for about 30 minutes, idling it up to about 4000rpm several times. Oh, another very important thing, you'll need to adjust the valve lash properly when you put your valvetrain parts back on. I'm probably missing some steps but that's pretty much it.

Re: How do you install a cam?
Is the existing cam hydraulic roller, or flat tappet? If you make a significant change in the cam profile you NEED to change your valve springs to match the new cam. Newer hydraulic roller style camshafts do not require the break-in period that the flat tappet cams need.
On the third gen F-bodies the radiator will have to come out to make proper room for the cam, and even then it will be a tight squeeze to remove it and install a new one safely. Ideally, the engine should be out of the car for this procedure. If this is something completely new to you, I recommend having a friend or acquaintance with experience being there with you during this procedure, or have a shop change it if you can afford the cost.
