XFI cam in a solid flat tappet?

Right now I have a 280 xfi flat tappet hydraulic cam. I really like it and I would like to step up in my next combo.

Does anyone know if there is a cam made similar to the xfi comp cam series that is computer compatible? I would like to try either solid flat or roller.

I have afr 195's, headers, steep gears, 3200 stall, basically everything is up-graded.

Re: XFI cam in a solid flat tappet?

Comp's catalog, and probably website, shows five XFI HR cams that were specifically designed for computer controlled fuel injected engines. In fact, XFI stands for Xtreme Fuel Injection. Virtually all newer fuel injected engines are computer controlled.

They're the 07-464-8; 07-465-8; 07-466-8; 07-467-8 and 07-468-8 and full specs are on Comp's site.

One main reason they're computer friendly is their somewhat wider LSA @ 113.

Information on the first two don't show any indication of requiring a re-programming of the PCM but I suspect they'd run better with it. Even bone stock engines do. The last three do call for re-programming though.

What I am looking for is a cam like a xfi cam that is a solid flat or solid roller cam.
Lunanti? Crane? Bullet?
I checked comps website and they dont make a solid cam that is compatible with a fuel injected engine

Okay, gottcha. I see, now, what you're looking for.

CompCams has thousands of lobes, all of which can be mixed and matched. They can grind you a cam with whatever specs you want and, if you don't know what you need, the Tech can tell you.

Take their XE (Xtreme Energy) line of mechanical (solid) lobes, pick one and just specify it be ground on 113 LSA, instead of 110. I found five listed in their new catalog.

I'll bet that an actual XFI cam can be ground as a solid roller instead of a hydraulic roller. I'll bet the necessary lobes are already sitting on the shelf ready to be inserted in the cam grinder.

A custom grind is no more expensive than an off-the-shelf cam; I've bought custom grinds from them for years. In fact, I bought one just this past summer for my son's 96 LT1 Vette. $300 and I received it in three or four days.

One of the main differences between a computer compatible cam and one that's not recommended for a computer controlled engine is the lobe separation angle. A tight LSA can confuse the engine's computer and make it harder to re-program.

Just have all your engine information available because the Tech guy's going to ask.
